PromptSmart made voice-tracked prompting mainstream, and its VoiceTrack engine is genuinely good at it. The difference is what happens when the take ends — Nuecue still has the record of what you said and when, and uses it to cut your flubs and build your captions.
No account needed to test voice tracking. Recordings stay yours.
The short version
If you need a prompter, PromptSmart is a mature one with a hardware and team story Nuecue does not have. If your real problem is the editing after the take, that is the whole reason Nuecue exists.
Rows where PromptSmart leads are marked as plainly as the rows where Nuecue does.
Voice-tracked scrolling
Follows your pace, holds when you pause, resumes when you pick the script back up.
VoiceTrack — patented speech-recognition scrolling that stops when you pause or improvise and resumes when you return to script.
Runs on device
Speech recognition and video export run in your browser. Recordings are saved locally and leave only when you export or share them yourself.
PromptSmart states its recognition runs on your computer or mobile device and does not require the internet.
Catches flubbed lines
Retake detection marks every line you jumped back to redo, while you are still recording.
Not offered — the prompter's job ends when the take does.
Removes them for you
Smart Cut proposes cutting the flubbed first read of each retake. You approve every cut; the original take is never modified.
Not offered. Flubs are removed in a separate video editor.
Captions
Burned-in or exported from the same word-level timing record, so there is no separate transcription step or upload.
Not offered.
Delivery feedback
A pacing coach reports on how you actually delivered the take — not just whether you read the words.
Not offered.
Install
Nothing. It is a website — the full studio, camera recording included, runs in a mobile or desktop browser.
Native apps for iOS and Android plus a web control portal, so you install per device.
Teleprompter rigs
Text mirroring and layout controls for beam-splitter glass and overhead arms.
Long-standing hardware workflow, including duplicate displays for multi-camera setups and inverted text for two-way glass.
Remote control
No second-operator remote — Nuecue is built around the solo creator running their own take.
Web-based Remote Control and Control Room sessions, so a producer can drive the prompter from another machine.
Teams and admin
Single-user accounts. No sub-users, work groups, or admin panel.
Teams and Enterprise tiers add unlimited Control Room sessions, nested script folders, sub-users, work groups, and an admin panel.
Voice tracking languages
16, selectable per script.
Multiple languages supported; PromptSmart lists the current set on its own site.

Questions
No — they solve adjacent problems. PromptSmart is a mature prompter with a hardware and team story Nuecue does not have. Nuecue is a prompter that keeps the word-level timing record and spends it on cutting your flubs and building your captions. If prompting is all you need, price should not be the deciding factor.
VoiceTrack is patented, has been refined for years, and is very good. Nuecue's tracking follows your pace, holds when you pause, and resumes when you return to script — the same behaviour. The honest way to settle it is to try Nuecue free, since no account is required to test the tracking.
All modern ones. Chrome, Edge, and Safari — including Safari on iPhone — use the speech recognition built into the browser. Firefox has none, and Brave blocks the one it ships, so Nuecue switches automatically to a speech model that downloads once and then runs entirely on your device. You don't configure anything.
Scripts are plain text, so paste them in. Nuecue does not import PromptSmart's proprietary project files, and cutting or captioning takes recorded elsewhere is not supported — the cuts depend on the timing record Nuecue captures while you read.
A free account includes one Smart Cut clean export so you can see the result on your own footage before deciding. After that, unlimited Smart Cut is part of Pro at $9/month or $79/year. Retake detection itself — seeing which lines were marked — is free and unlimited.
Read a paragraph, flub a line on purpose, and watch what gets marked. No account, no card, nothing to install.
